AMAZINGLY ENOUGH THE L-82'S WERE BUILT WITH HEAVY DUTY, HIGHER PERFORMANCE INTERNALS. CRANKSHAFT, PISTONS, RODS, BETTER HEADS, LARGER VALVES AND UPGRADED CAM SHAFT, AND 4 BOLT MAINS! EASILY CAPABLE OF HANDLING 350 TO 370 HORSEPOWER IF YOU DECIDED TO PUMP IT UP.
OH, I TRIED IT ONLY ONCE, SITTING STILL IN DRIVE AND PUT THE PEDAL TO THE METAL AND TO MY SURPRISE IT BROKE THE FAT TIRES LOOSE. I WAS IMPRESSED.
IF YOU ARE WONDERING WHY SOME HAVE THE INDY 500 DECALS AND SOME DON'T, CHEVY DELIVERED ALL OF THESE WITH THE DECALS IN A BOX. THEREFORE EACH OWNER GOT TO DECIDE FOR HIMSELF.
This particular car is equipped with the Matching #'s High Performance L82 - 350 V8, Turbo Automatic transmission, Working factory cruise control Optional Stereo CB radio, And There was an extensive list of Mandatory options required on all Pace Car Edition models that included power windows, power door locks, removable glass roof panels, rear window defogger, air conditioning, sport mirrors, a tilt-telescoping steering column, raised white-letter tires sized P255/60R, a heavy-duty battery, a Delco AM/FM stereo radio with 8-track tape or CB, power antenna, dual rear speakers, aluminum road wheels, the convenience group and special seats. Model year 1978 commemorated the 25th anniversary of the legendary Corvette brand. Chevrolet celebrated this milestone with a bold fastback styling redesign featuring a large rear window, giving both a new silhouette as well as significantly increasing the luggage space behind the Special front seats that were intended for 1979 Corvettes.
